MANILA – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) on Thursday announced that it will launch a nationwide and simultaneous “peace caravan” on Sept. 24.

In a press conference, NCMF commissioner and spokesman Yusoph Mando said NCMF is joining the celebration of the National Peace Consciousness Month 2022 with the theme, “Pagkakaisa at Paghilom: Isang Bansa para sa Kapayapaan (Unity and Healing: One Nation for Peace).”

“This is essential to ensure that the future generations in the country grow up with an enlightened understanding of peace and never opt for war. Yes, attaining peace isn’t easy and requires a lot of effort from all members of the community,” Mando said.

According to Mando, the 11 regional offices of the NCMF will take part in the nationwide and simultaneous “peace caravan,” with participants not only from the Muslim community but from other religious sectors as well.

The NCMF said it has already secured permits from the concerned local government units as well as assistance from the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group for the event.

The peace caravan, which will start from the NCMF Central Office at Jocfer Bldg., Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, will pass through the streets of Quezon City, Mandaluyong City and Makati City with around 100 vehicles expected to participate.

“Maliban sa peace caravan, ang ginagawa ng NCMF ay magkakaroon ng series of dialogues between parties at pagsasagawa ng seminar at dialogo at pagkakaroon ng peace awareness, halal program at legal assistance program (Apart from the peace caravan, the NCMF will be holding a series of dialogues between parties as well as a seminar to raise peace awareness, a halal program, and a legal assistance program),” Adzhar Albani, NCMF National Capital Region regional director, said.

“Magkakaroon tayo ng training program upang malaman ng taong bayan na hindi pinababayaan ang ating kababayan at kasama sila sa pagsusulong ng kaunlaran ng ating bayan (We will have training program so that the Filipino people will know that they are not taken for granted and they are included in the pursuit of development of our country),” Albani added.
